15. Introducing Lady Jane (2)

Photo: train260.jpg (27K) Confirming full route availability....
On an early trial run Lady Jane gently eases her way along the length of the newly built platform at Caherdaniel to check for adequate cylinder clearance.

The lenses in the front running lamps are yellow LEDs wired to batteries in the right hand side tank. A miniature slide switch is accessible just underneath the tank.
Photo: train264.jpg (27K) I find the action of the valve gear and connecting rods at slow speeds really effective. When new, running light is recommended for the first few hours so that all mechanical parts can bed in fully.

The line's motive power department now includes locomotives representing three common fuelling methods for large scale model railways:- spirit (Lady Sarah), gas (Lady Jane), and rechargeable battery (SM6 diesel).
