6. Weigela Junction

Midwinter services have been heavily disrupted by civil engineering and track work. Happily, the line has been restored just in time for Spring and Summer steaming. The result, shown here, is Weigela Junction - named by locals after a pretty trackside shrub bearing little deep pink flowers - where a sweeping inner curve finally joins the through line.

Through traffic. A mid-morning down passenger service coasts through Weigela Junction into the shade of a canopy of spring foliage. For now, the inner curve terminates with a buffer stop after about ten feet of track length. But before too long, it will provide the start of a route to new destinations!
