Rebuilding the Garden (11)

Right then. Garden rebuild almost complete. Time to get back to the serious business of rebuilding the railway.

I am really keen to make a start on the brand new steam up & station area and am debating whether I can make sufficient room for a turntable - essential on this type of line. But first I need to complete the large return loop. After meandering around the pond and across the path on its concrete track bed, the line will complete its journey alongside several new flower beds on a slightly raised wooden section supported by brick piers.

The track base sections are constructed in pairs to span the 20/24 inch gaps between the piers. Here they are just resting in position to try them for size. After receiving several coats of fence preservative they will be permanently laid on each of the piers using a bed of mortar so that they can be made level.
