Rebuilding the Garden (6)

The path to the summerhouse base is almost complete. The brick pavers have been laid in a herringbone pattern. In the foreground, gravel is being laid over permeable horticultural membrane. And at last!... Best of all... between the pond edge and the retaining wall a new section of concrete track bed begins to take shape!

The concrete track bed makes its way towards what will eventually be a tunnel section under a corner of the summer house. The concrete and flagstones to the right are part of the summer house base. The cuttings have retaining walls formed from slate, which will retain soil for planting. Some of the planting will spread over the tops of the slate sides. We decided that grassed slopes to the cuttings would be too difficult to maintain.
